University of Virginia, Charlottesville, invites applicants for a
tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor position in Socio-cultural
Anthropology beginning August 25, 2008. Candidates must have a regional
specialization in Africa, the Caribbean and/or Latin America, an ongoing
program of research and publication that integrates in-depth
ethnographic
study with the advancement of theory, and a demonstrated commitment to
excellence in teaching. We encourage applications from women and

and from candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence
of
the university community through their research, teaching and service.
Applicants must have PhD in hand by time of appointment. Review of
applications will begin September 1, 2007 and all applications must be
received no later than November 5, 2007. Candidates should attach a

that demonstrates integration of ethnography and theory, and
