Wednesday seminar for October 3:

Nicholas Tapp, Dept of Anthropology, RSPAS, ANU

Romantics in the supermarket: The cusp of diasporisms?

The paper is an inquiry into comparative notions of self with reference
to the works of Daniel Bell, Daniel Miller, and Colin Campbell. It makes
some reference to the ethnography of the Hmong, but the main focus is on
the historical dialectic between 'romantic/hedonist' and 'puritan' selves,
and how this might be applied cross-culturally.
