Dear all,
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Peter Toner, and I am the
multimedia reviews editor of The Asia Pacific Journal of Anthropology,
produced by anthropologists at ANU. I am writing today to bring to your
attention the multimedia reviews section of the journal, and to solicit
interest in writing reviews.
The multimedia reviews section first appeared in TAPJA 6(3), December 2005.
The purpose of this review section has been to recognize the growing
importance of multimedia materials in anthropological scholarship, and to
extend peer review to such materials. Potential items for review could
include:
- audio recordings
- documentary films
- websites
- CD-ROMs or DVD-ROMs
My usual policy is to try to line up a reviewer for a multimedia review item
before obtaining a review copy (in order to avoid having a large number of
unreviewed materials). If you have a CD, a film, a website (or set of
related websites), or any other item of potential interest that you know of
and would like to review for TAPJA, please contact me and I will arrange for
a review copy to be obtained. As usual, you get to keep the review copy.
Here are some links to materials that I would love to see reviewed in the
near future (I assume that most of them could easily be obtained):

This is just a short list, and of course there are many other titles out
there which I encourage you to bring to my attention. Our only limitation is
a geographical focus on the Asia-Pacific region.
Multimedia reviews are typically 800-900 words in length. If you are
interested in a title, would like to propose a title, or simply would like
more information, please do not hesitate to contact me off-list.
Cheers,
Peter
