ETHNOLOGY An International Journal of Cultural and Social Anthropology 
ETHNOLOGY is one of the finest journals. Who says so? Ward Goodenough 
The quality of its articles outstrips all other journals publishing 
cultural anthropology. Elizabeth Colson Ethnology publishes articles 
that I find among the best now appearing in several journals devoted to 
anthropology. Nancy Lurie A special appeal of Ethnology is that it is 
not a member benefit in a professional society. Its energies are devoted 
entirely to bringing well chosen, carefully edited, and instructive 
articles to its readers whatever their professional affiliations. Sidney 
Mintz Ethnology gives its readers opportunities to keep abreast of the 
field, and to understand much better where it is really going. Anthony 
F. C. Wallace Ethnology is certainly one of the mainstays for the 
publication of insightful and professional writing in cultural 
anthropology. Melford Spiro Ethnology . . . is an indispensable journal 
for meaningful anthropological communication. During the long period in 
which some few other anthropology journals reflected the 
anti-comparativist, radical relativist postmodern Zeitgeist, Ethnology 
persevered in publishing empirically grounded, theoretically oriented 
ethnographic articles. The annual subscription for the quarterly is $28, 
but merely $14 for students and retired persons. New subscribers will 
receive any available back issue of their choice for free. A list of
