*Huge and warm congratulations to **our inspirational ***
<kyi.htm>**colleague, fellow-graduate * <kyi.htm>**and friend*, *Ma Khin
Mar Mar Kyi, for being voted a "favourite Australian" in the
Australia-wide call for thirty favourite Australians, a collaboration
between the ABC and the National Portrait Gallery. *
Mar was nominated in the list of twenty "Unsung Heroes" - "a wide range
of everyday inspirational Australians who make up our communities". As
nominator Ursula Frederick put it:
"Spend enough time with Mar and you soon realise you can change the
world. She is small in stature but has an enormous passion for people
and in raising awareness about human rights in Burma. Mar is a gentle
reminder of how we can use our liberty to help others, and that we can
do it with good will, a warm heart and a smile." — Ursula Frederick,
colleague and friend, Downer, Australian Capital Territory.
Mar's video portrait, by video artist, Lynette Wallworth, is currently
on display in an exhibition at the new National Portrait Gallery but
also available at the related website: -

Again, big congratulations Mar!
