'Native curios, national patrimony, primitive art: three moments in the
biography of the PG Black collection'
In 1938, the Buffalo Museum of Science acquired 6200 objects collected
between 1886 and 1914 by and for PG Black, a branch inspector for a famous
Sydney-based mercantile and shipping firm. At varied points in their
biographical history, these objects were represented in various ways: native
curios, national patrimony, and primitive art.
All welcome.
