If you are a PhD student, you can take this course as long as you provide
a letter of support from your supervisor. The number of place is limited and
that acceptance for the course cannot be guaranteed.
If you are interested, please contact me as soon as possible.
The details of the intensive are as follows;
The course run between 5 - 18 July 2008 including the weekend
(except Sunday 13 July).
4 hours of lectures, seminars and workshop each day for 13 days.
This workshop is offered to persons with little or no prior experience of video
production who wish to use video as a new "language" that can be applied
to their own disciplines as both a research method and as a medium of expression.
The emphasis will be on the conceptual rather than the technical, to open up
new ways of approaching knowledge in a form of discourse significantly different
from that of written texts. Training in basic video techniques will be through a series
of daily exercises enabling researchers to use a video camera in the field with some
degree of confidence. Students will also be introduced to basic principles of video editing. Participants will be requested to provide their own video cameras
for the period of the course although a few cameras can be made
available on request.
The course will demand your full time attention and you should not expect to do
anything else during that period. Those with jobs are advised that you will have
to make arrangements to take the time off.
To Master's students: Missing a day for any other than medical reasons
would be to the detriment of their final assessment.
Regards,
Fuyubi
