Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Physical Geography
(Full-time (continuing))

The Department has international research strengths in Atmospheric Science
(both modelling and applied) and Geoecology (including Soils, Quaternary
Studies and Fluvial Geomorphology).  The Department hosts the insurance
industry-funded Risk Frontiers-Natural Hazards Research Centre, and co-hosts
the Climatic Impacts Centre. Applications are particularly welcome from
individuals who bridge some of these areas of strength, via computer
modelling, and/or Geographical Information Sciences and/or field-based
research expertise.  The appointment will most likely be made in an area
such as hydrometeorology, catchment scale hydrology, engineering hydrology,
micrometeorology, air pollution meteorology or agricultural meteorology,
however, applicants with skills and experience in other relevant areas of
expertise are strongly encouraged to apply.

The appointee will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate units, the
supervision of postgraduate students, will maintain an active research
program and make a contribution to the administrative load.   The position may
be filled at either Associate Lecturer or Lecturer level. Applicants should
indicate the level at which they are applying, or whether they wish to be
considered at both levels.

Essential Criteria: A relevant doctoral degree (or be close to completion);
able to show evidence of research as demonstrated by publications, competitive
grants and other forms of professional recognition; undergraduate or
postgraduate teaching experience; demonstrated ability to attract
industry-related funding.

Additional Essential Criteria for Lecturer: Able to demonstrate that their
research is established or significant teaching or industry-related
experience.

Desirable Criteria:  Evidence of an interest in the application of innovative
teaching and learning strategies.

The position is available on a full-time (continuing) basis, and will be
subject to probationary conditions.

Salary range: Level A (Associate Lecturer) - $43,920 to $59,605 pa, including
base salary $37,113 to $50,367 pa, plus annual leave loading and 17% employer's
contribution to superannuation.

Level B (Lecturer) - $62,744 to $74,508 pa, including base salary $53,019 to
$62,960 pa, plus annual leave loading and 17% employer's contribution to
superannuation.
