Would you please draw this event to the attention of Honours classes or
other candidates who might be interested to undertake PhD research? Many
thanks!

MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY GENES-TO-GEOSCIENCE INITIATIVE

VISITING DAY FOR STUDENTS CONSIDERING PHD
More at http://www.bio.mq.edu.au/research/g2g/index.html

If you are considering a PhD, may we invite you to visit Macquarie
University on Friday 18th August 2006? This visiting day will be
organized so visitors can check out a wide range of PhD opportunities
during a single day.

Genes-to-geoscience is an initiative developed by Macquarie's
Division of Environmental and Life Sciences. It aims to be a hothouse
for generating research projects that span from molecular genetics
through physiology, functional ecology and evolution through to earth
science scales. Projects may span continental and global space, and
hundreds of millions of years of time. Genes to Geosciences links
researchers across this range of fields, drawn from the Departments of
Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, Physical
Geography, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and the Australian Centre for
Astrobiology.

The visiting day will include brief meetings with a wide range of
academics, in-depth time with those you are most interested in, and time
to question their current students.

If financial constraints make it difficult for you to travel to Sydney,
contact rdelves at bio.mq.edu.au. We have a limited number of travel grants
available. It would be helpful to have some idea how many people were
coming. Could you please drop a line to rdelves at bio.mq.edu.au if you're
planning to come?
