Graduate student and postdoctoral opportunities in Holocene and Anthropocene environmental change

With support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Government of Québec, and other partners, a new paleoecology laboratory has been opened at Bishop's University (Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada), under the direction of Dr. Matthew Peros, Canada Research Chair in Climate and Environmental Change. The laboratory is equipped with infrastructure and instrumentation to enable a broad range of paleoecological techniques and applications. Information about the laboratory can be found at: http://www.envirolab.ubishops.ca/home.html.

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are being sought to undertake paleoecological research projects in southern Québec and eastern Canada through the merit program of the Government of Québec. Potential projects include, but are not limited to, the following:

1)      Generating new, high-resolution records of Late-Glacial and Holocene climate change;
2) Examining the impacts of historic land-use on wetland ecosystems; and
3)      Prehistoric environmental-human interactions.

To be eligible for this program, candidates must not be Canadian citizens. Full details about the program can be found at:

http://www.frqnt.gouv.qc.ca/en/bourses-et-subventions/consulter-les-programmes-remplir-une-demande/bourse?id=f9tcxbzm1430400825724

The laboratory represents a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment and new members are being sought to join the team. Interested students should contact Dr. Matthew Peros at mperos at ubishops.ca<mailto:mperos at ubishops.ca> by no later than September 8, 2015.
