Down to Earth Geoarchaeological Services is looking to hire casual geoarchaeologists/geomorphologists for ongoing projects in Western Sydney.
The projects are mainly geoarchaeological assessments using a combination of hand augering or percussion coring on shallow profiles (<1m) or, logging and sampling undisturbed boreholes on deeper (>1m) profiles. We also undertake logging and sampling for geoarchaeological purposes alongside geotechnical and contamination investigations involving mechanical augering, coring and trenching. The assessments inform subsequent archaeological test excavation programs. Additional works involve ongoing geoarchaeological works and environmental sampling on archaeological excavation programs.
We are looking for experienced practitioners who are able to supervise site works, as well as recent graduates.
Essential Criteria:

   - Knowledge of augering and coring techniques.
   - Logging of soils and sediments.
   - Sampling of soils and sediments for a variety of environmental (e.g. soil chemistry, pollen, particle size etc) and radiometric (e.g. OSL, C14 etc) signatures;
   - Ability to interpret stratigraphic, environmental and radiometric data.
   - White Card (NSW OH&S General Induction) or equivalent.
   - Driving License.

  Desirable Criteria:

   - Specialist knowledge of environmental proxy techniques (e.g. soil chemistry, particle size etc).
   - Experience in using 3D Deposit modelling software.
   - Experience in geoarchaeological project management (preparing research designs, logistics, preparing SWMS, supervising fieldwork, reporting).
   - Senior First Aid.

Please contact me directly with a cover letter and a CV via email.
Many thanks,
