Australia

Contesting Discourses: Kinship Politics Versus Western Idioms in
Post-War Philippine Politics


A PhD graduate from the University of Michigan, Mina Roces teaches
history at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. She is the
author of Women, Power and Kinship Politics: Female Power in Post-War
Philippines and Kinship Politics in Post-War Philippines: the Lopez
Family, 1946-2000. She also published a co-edited volume entitled
Women in Asia: Tradition, Modernity and Globalization.


The seminar is sponsored by the Department of Political and Social
Change, RSPAS, ANU, the ANU Philippine Studies Group, and the
Philippine Australian Association of the ACT and Monaro Region.
