<P><FONT face=Arial size=3>Fergus Hanson has a Masters in International Law from
the University of Sydney. His published thesis focused on regional stability in
the Pacific. He worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
from 2004 to 2007. From 2005 to 2007 he served at the Australian Embassy in The
Hague where he was responsible for Australia’s relations with five international
legal organisations and domestic political issues. Prior to joining DFAT he was
a fellow at Cambridge University’s Lauterpacht Research Centre for International
Law. Fergus has also studied at Uppsala and Fribourg universities. Fergus is the
Director of the annual Lowy Poll.</FONT></P>

<P><FONT face=Arial size=3>Christopher Michaelsen is a Research Fellow at the
UNSW Law Faculty. He teaches and specialises in human rights, public
international law and international security. Before joining UNSW, he served as
a Human Rights Officer (Anti-Terrorism) at the Office for Democratic
Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and
Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Warsaw, Poland. He has previously worked for the
United Nations Department for Disarmament Affairs in New York City, and as a
doctoral scholar at the ANU's Strategic & Defence Studies Centre. He has
also served as a consultant for the Asian Law Group in Semarang, Indonesia, and
for the Center for Global Counter-Terrorism Cooperation in New York City. Chris
is the convenor of the Law Faculty's International Law & Policy Group, a
member of the Gilbert & Tobin Centre of Public Law, and an associate of the
Australian Human Rights Centre.</FONT></P></SPAN></DIV>
