                <div class="templatetext">State, Society and Governance in Melanesia 
(SSGM) is a vibrant multi-disciplinary research unit, in the School of 
International, Political and Strategic Studies in the College of Asia 
and the Pacific. It is the leading international centre for applied 
research into contemporary governance issues in Melanesia. The program 
is funded in part from the Operating Grant and in part from external 
funds.<br><br>SSGM seeks to appoint up to two early to mid career social
 scientists who have ongoing research interests in either Timor Leste or
 Vanuatu. The appointee(s) will be expected to conduct independent 
applied research in a multi-disciplinary research environment, publish 
in peer-reviewed journals and for a broader policy audience, contribute 
to SSGM's teaching program and to its extensive outreach program, which 
seeks to bridge the gap between academic and policy-making communities
