The Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi plans to invest more than 75 billion
VND ($4US.5 million) in upgrading the electricity supply networks in 13
mountainous communes between now and 2012.

This investment was approved by the municipal Peoples Council on December
11.

The city will also implement a World Bank-funded rural energy project with
a total investment of 348 billion VND across 78 communes.
