World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Centre of International Forestry
Research (CIFOR) and the Department of Forestry, MARD Vietnam would like
to draw your attention to the upcoming national workshop ‘/Linkages of
Forest Protection, Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction  - Issues and
Approaches in Vietnam’/ dated March, 4 to 6, 2009 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The workshop will bring together diverse stakeholders and international
experts to share experiences on issues, opportunities, obstacles and
realistic options for harmonizing conservation and development works,
aiming at forest conservation and improve livelihood of forest owners
and agro-foresters, particularly to benefit the poor. The workshop is
part of CIFOR's Lower Mekong Conservation and Development Project, the
ICRAF’ project ‘ and  the ICRAF’ project ‘Rewards, Use and Shared
Investment in Pro-poor Environmental Services – Rupes II’.

The first day of the workshop will set the stage for several
conservation approaches, including the MacArthur project looking at
conservation and development trade-offs in project intervention. The
second day will focus on a wide range of pro-poor PES issues as well as
Rupes II.  Working groups will develop terms of reference for follow-up
activities of Rupes II. Field trips will be offered during the third day
of the workshop.

The Workshop organizers welcome proposals for insightful papers and
posters. The abstracts of papers and posters should be submitted no
later than 15 January, 2009. The accepted abstracts are expected to
develop further to full papers and should be submitted not later than 21

Ngày thứ nhất của hội thảo sẽ bao gồm các trình bày về các phương thức
bảo tồn, bao gồm dự án MacArthur  xem xét việc hài hòa hóa giữa mục tiêu
bảo tồn và phát triển trong các dự án. Ngày thứ 2 sẽ đi sâu vào các vấn
đề chi trả các dịch vụ môi trường tiến tới xóa đói giảm nghèo và RUPES
II. Các nhóm làm việc nhỏ sẽ xây dựng điều khoản tham chiếu và nhiệm vụ
cho các hoạt động RUPES II tiếp theo. Ngày thứ 3 của hội thảo sẽ là
chuyến đi thăm quan thực địa.



Ban tổ chức hội thảo hoan nghênh các đề xuất cho các bài tham luận và áp
phích (poster) đáp ứng các chủ đề được nêu cho chương trình hội thảo.
Hạn cuối cho việc nhận các tóm tắt bài trình bày và áp phích là ngày *15
tháng 1 năm 2009.  *Các tóm tắt tham luận được lựa chọn sẽ tiếp tục được
phát triển thành một bài tham luận hoàn chính và nộp lại trước ngày *21
