WILDLIFE IN CENTRAL VIETNAM

from the VIETNAM NEWS BRIEFS, December 22, 2008 A green belt project
funded by the World Bank, World Wildlife Fund and the Netherlands agency
has been helping protect animals in Bach Ma and Phong Dien National Parks
in Vietnam's central Thua Thien Hue province since it was launched in June
of 2004.
Dr Chris Dickinson, chief advisor of the project said downstream forest is
home to many species of animals on brink of extinction including white-
crested pheasants... The project also help keep biodiversity in Truong Son
Trail.
Through 4 years of implementation with the fund of $2 million, the project
has helped build a conservation strategy, contribute to fights against
wildlife trafficking and illegal hunts.
On this occasion, local authorities have bestowed certificate of merit to
Dr Chris Dickinson for great contributions to implementation of the green
belt project in Thua Thien-Hue province. (VNA, People's Police Dec 22)
