Ha Noi: Illegal tiger bones confiscated
On 25 September 2008, Thanh Xuan district police stopped a car carrying tiger bones which had been illegally transported from Nghe An to Hanoi.

Vietnam's rivers heavily polluted
Many rivers in Vietnam are extremely polluted including the Thi Vai River (Dong Nai), Cau River (Bac Ninh and Bac Giang province) and many rivers in Ha Noi. The main cause of this problem is waste from factories and hospitals. The Hanoi's People's Committee has assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to work with local authorities to address this issue.

Quang Nam: Rangers under attack

Kien Giang: New butterfly species discovered on Phu Quoc Island
In August 2008, Wildlife at Risk (WAR), in cooperation with Phu Quoc National Park discovered a new species of butterfly (Catapaecilma evansi Pendlebury) at Rach Tram, Bai Thom commune in Phu Quoc district.
