     HANOI, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank (WB) pledged to provide a
credit of 190 million U.S. dollars to help Vietnam develop infrastructure,
the Youth reported Thursday.

     The money will go to the country's Locality Development Investment Funds
Project. The project was designed to improve the financial capacity and
environmental management of public and private sectors involved in
infrastructure development.

     The project was signed by the World Bank and the State Bank of Vietnam
here on Wednesday.

     The bank has pledged to provide Vietnam a package of preferential loans
of over 9.83 billion U.S. dollars to develop the country's 91 projects and
programs nationwide.
