Subject: Requesting Ideas for Case Studies for the 2010 World Resources Report
Date: Thu, 24 Jun 2010 16:55:57 -0400
From: "Brian Lipinski" <BLipinski at wri.org>

Dear colleagues,

The World Resources Report (WRR), a joint publication of the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Bank and the World Resources Institute, has consistently addressed the important linkages between environment and development. The World Resources Institute is currently conducting research for our upcoming World Resources Report 2010, which is focused on climate change adaptation and specifically the theme of decision making in a changing climate - namely how can planning and policymaking processes contend with the uncertainty, temporal and spatial scales, changes in mean state and variability, and surprises of climate change.

One key set of activities we are undertaking is case study research. We are looking for examples of national-level decision-making processes, especially in developing countries, that have succeeded in integrating both short- and long-term risks. We will also be looking into barriers, and therefore will include examples of failed integration of risks. Attached to this email is a detailed description of the type of case studies we are seeking to include in the Report.

We are writing to you to request ideas for case studies to be included in the WRR 2010. If you would be interested in a follow-up phone call, we would be happy to provide more background on the Report and could contact you at your convenience.

If you are able to suggest case studies for inclusion in the WRR 2010, please email us at kelly.levin at wri.org and brian.lipinski at wri.org.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

All the best,
Brian Lipinski
