Dear Vern Weitzel
Can you please share this on the enviro-vlc mailing list?
Thanks a lot and best regards,
Marianne
Dear all
I am writing from Bhutan, where I work for SNV together with the Department of
Forests and Park Services on Non-Timber Forest Product development. In Bhutan
we have some small scale agarwood plantations and we are looking for proper
agarwood inducement techniques. I know that in Vietnam a lot of experiences in
agarwood inducement were gained through the Rainforest Project as I had the
opportunity to attend the agarwood conference in HCMC in November 2003 (I
worked in Vietnam from 1998 to 2006 for WWF, IUCN and DED).
In order to support the government of Bhutan, I am looking for information on
agarwood induction, related to the following:
Stories of success or failure of the agarwood induction methods as developed
and patented by Prof. Robert A. Blanchette and Mr. Henry Heuvelink van Beek in
2005 (The Rainforest Project)
If the methods are successful, how widely are they applied and how does
Vietnam deal with the patent?
If the methods are not successful, what are the other methods used for
agarwood inducement in Vietnam?
I would be very grateful if you could provide me with information on the above
or with contact details from persons who I could contact related to agarwood
inducement.
With kind regards.
