Skills and Knowledge Development Center for Social Work

Who we are?
*

The center is a *non-profit organization* founded by a number of Vietnamese
educators and scientists in the field of social sciences. A part from its
members , the center is strongly supported by educators and scientists who
are members of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations ,
professionals working in state institutions and non-governmental
organizations
*

Our vision* is to ensure equal development opportunities for all social
groups in the society through the participation of people at the grassroots
level in the development of social policies
*

Our mission* is to help provide necessary skills and knowledge for the poor
and the marginal groups in the society, with special attention to the people
with disabilities, to enable them to have more effective participation in
the development of policies of general socio-economic development and
policies for support of their groups
*

What we do?
*

To carry out studies regarding knowledge and skills necessary for the poor
people and people with disabilities to achieve full participation in their
community's social activities ; studies to promote the role of this group in
their communities .

To share information and data obtained from our studies, initiatives for
livelihood improvement for the poor and people with disabilities

To set up Network of local social workers who will work as our collaborators
in all our programs and to help collect and share information with different
individuals and groups

To cooperate with universities, other VNGOs and INGOs operating in similar
fields for advocating activities for policies regarding the rights and
interest of the poor and the people with disabilities

At present our operation focuses on strengthening and expanding of our
network for social mobilization for support of young people with
disabilities and help to realize the second and eighth goal in the MDG*.
