DUTY STATION: Hanoi, Viet Nam POST TITLE:

LEVEL AND SALARY: NOB
(Ranging from USD21,581-USD29,981)
DURATION: 1 Year initially
The UNITED NATIONS POPULATION FUND (UNFPA) Office, Ha Noi, Viet Nam
seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced national
candidate to fill a new position of NPPP.
Overall Responsibility:
The selected candidate will actively provide technical and management
support on safe motherhood, especially in ethnic minority related
areas and management of two projects in Ninh Thuan and Ha Giang
provinces
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
For the area of safe motherhood:
1. Provide substantial inputs to the development and evaluation of
policies on safe motherhood focusing on Emergency Obstetric and
Newborn care
2. Provide inputs to UNFPA’s advocacy strategies on safe motherhood
focusing on Emergency Obstetric and Newborn care
3. Participate in the process of annual workplan development in the
safe motherhood focusing on Emergency Obstetric and Newborn care
4. Participate in evaluation for drawing lessons and experiences in
the area in programme formulation
5. Coordination of technical assistance for interventions in safe
motherhood to central and provincial partners;
6. Coordination of technical assistance for the intervention model
on 18 month training programme for ethnic minority midwives in
mountainous provinces
7. Prepare reports and lessons on safe motherhood focusing on
Emergency Obstetric and Newborn care
8. especially in ethnic regions
Manage two provincial projects in Ha Giang and Ninh Thuan provinces
1. Provide day-to-day technical backstopping to provinces in
planning and implementation
2. Monitor project activities, conduct field supervision monitoring
visits for improve project performance
3. Prepare regular reports on progress, including quarterly and
annual reports plus financial reports
4. Liaise with central agencies and other concerned organizations
for efficient and effective technical assistance to implementation of
the projects
5. Other duties as required
Required qualifications:
• Medical background with Master’s degree in maternal health or
public health, or other related fields.
• Have at least ten years provincial and/or national experience in
the management and implementation of maternal and neonatal health
and/or programmes/projects for ethnic minorities
• Have knowledge and working experience with government and
international agencies active in the area of reproductive
health/maternal health.
• Have strong experiences in strategic planning and policy
dialogues with national and sub-national partners
• Excellent English skills in communication, speaking and writing
• Excellent skills in Word, excel and other computer applications
