from the VIETNAM NEWS BRIEFS, January 23, 2009 The Bank for Investment and
Development
of Vietnam (BIDV) January 21 signed a deal to borrow $200 million from the
World Bank for the rural finance project 3, the state-run Voice of Vietnam
reported.

The BIDV said it will disburse the fund within the first quarter of this
year and small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas will be
directly benefited.

The World Bank has funneled more than $600 million to the project, which
is being implemented in 60 out of 64 cities and provinces across Vietnam
with aims to develop rural area, reduce poverty, and improve living
