Dear Colleagues
My name is John Clarke, and I am a lecturer at the Queensland University of
Technology (QUT) in Brisbane (where it is currently 30+ degrees!) and a
HERDSA member. I coordinate the Doctor of Education program within the Faculty
of Education at QUT. There are several students in the early stages of
their program who are interested in JOINTLY writing the thesis component of
the program and having it JOINTLY assessed. We are willing to accommodate
them but, to prepare them (and us!) adequately, feel that we need to draw
on the experience of others who have been involved in similar procedures
elsewhere.
My request then is for any information about JOINTLY presented AND assessed
postgraduate research theses (Honours/Masters/Doctoral levels)- Names of
contact people, programs, places (particularly North America and UK as I
may be there next year) etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Just to clarify, we are not talking here about for example 2 people working
together on a project where they may share the research site, data sources
and data gathering procedures etc but submit separate theses on separate
and specific aspects of the project. We are talking about a fully
integrated research activity carried out jointly by 2 people (say) who
co-research, co-write and co-submit ONE final product for examination.
Thank you in advance for any information you may provide.
Kindest regards
John A Clarke
