Formation of a new Special Interest Group in Art and Design:

A new Special Interest Group (SIG) for researchers in Art and Design
has been proposed. It would be an opportune time at the July conference
to get together and form a new group, possibly with a view to having a special forum at the 1998 conference in Auckland, and thereafter an ongoing colloquial focus for art and design educators and researchers.

We have a new postgraduate program at the School of Art and Design,
Auckland Institute of Technology, and it is certainly a good time for us
to form a group. We have a particular interest in postgraduate
development issues in art and design as well as research methodologies
and the definition of what is documentation of scholarship in Art and
Design, an area currently under much scrutiny.

Anyone interested in the formation of this SIG should contact Nancy de
Freitas directly at the address below. Please pass on this Email to
colleagues in Art and Design departments who may not be members of
HERDSA.
