The following position was advertised in the Australian on Wednesday 13th

Teaching and Learning Centre
Senior Lecturer in Higher Education
Academic Level C
(5 year fixed term)
The Teaching and Learning Centre is a new entity comprising the former
Distance Education Centre, the Academic Development Unit, the Academic
Skills Office and the Media Resources Unit. The Centre aims to promote a
culture of excellence in teaching and learning at UNE through collaboration
with individuals and groups across the University.
The position involves co-ordinating academic development opportunities
within the University, including:
· planning and delivering a range of workshops and seminars for academic
staff on topics associated with teaching and learning
· producing resource materials for academic staff to enhance teaching and
learning
· providing advice and support to individual academics and groups of
academics with respect to their teaching and preparation of teaching materials
· initiating and co-ordinating academic development projects or activities
· conducting research related to teaching and learning in higher education
Applicants should have:
· a doctoral qualification (preferably) with postgraduate studies in an
education-related field
· demonstrated ability as a teacher at the university level
· experience in academic development or staff development, with specific
experience in conducting workshops and seminars for academic staff on
topics related to teaching and learning
· demonstrated knowledge of issues related to university teaching and
learning (for example, unit design and development, teaching innovation,
theories of teaching and learning, flexible teaching approaches, distance
education, assessment practices and evaluation of teaching)
· demonstrated ability to undertake research
· good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
