Senior Lecturer (Programs) at Monash University

The Higher Education Development Unit (HEDU) within Monash’s Centre for
Learning and Teaching Support (CeLTS) currently has a vacancy for a
Senior Lecturer in educational/academic development.  The position is
expected to be advertised in The Australian, June 6 next.

The appointee will have background and qualifications in teaching and
learning, a higher degree in an area relevant to the development of
teaching and learning, and a good knowledge of adult or higher education
learning.  He or she will have experience related to postgraduate
supervision, the development of programs and materials addressing
teaching and learning issues, and in the development and teaching of
award courses in higher education teaching.  A background in one or more
of using academics’ own educational development work to develop their
teaching expertise, student diversity and its influence on teaching,
project and student activity based approaches to teaching, and
supporting sessional and casual teaching, would be an advantage.

Duties

The primary role of the appointee will be to provide overall
coordination for the various staff development activities, workshops and
programs run by HEDU.
In particular, the appointee will:
* coordinate HEDU’s  responsibilities for  staff development workshops;
* act as a central contact point for requests for teaching related staff
development;
* coordinate HEDU’s work in developing the training of postgraduate
supervisors, and of casual sessional teachers;
* develop and support various networks of academic staff throughout the
University;
* develop and  provide staff development and training support for
academic staff wishing to improve/develop their teaching;
* teach within the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education;
* contribute to consultation on educational development matters more
broadly;
* collaborate with other members of HEDU and CeLTS to provide programs
in flexible delivery mode;
* undertake supervision and research leading to publication.
The appointee will work closely with other members of HEDU and will be
expected to contribute fully to the Unit’s strategic planning and other
processes.  The appointee may have a coordinating and supervisory role
over junior and short-term project personnel employed from time to time.
