Position: Expressions of interest in short term educational development projects sought

The Faculty of Health Sciences in the University of Sydney is a large and
diverse faculty (http://www.cchs.usyd.edu.au/) with a commitment to
improving teaching and learning, including flexible approaches.  Currently
a wide range of curriculum design work is occurring and transforming it
into effective and efficient teaching practices and learning resources will
soon be necessary.

We have some funds to appoint specialist expertise to support educational
development on a project/short-term consultancy basis for a number of
developments. The expected work period is June - December.  A short-term
full-time appointment is not currently envisaged but might eventuate for

The task/s (all development projects will not require all tasks so we are
looking for a range of expertise)

Work with individuals and/or groups of academic staff to develop
instructional and assessment strategies to deliver revised curricula to
large and diverse groups of undergraduates on campus

Work with individuals and/or groups of academics to plan, design and
develop appropriate learning resources to support the above

Provide instructional design, academic editing, web resource development
and/or project management for unit of study educational development projects.

While the immediate objective is to improve and diversify teaching and
learning strategies/resources to meet curriculum needs in an environment of
increasingly constrained resources, a broader goal is facilitate
professional development of academic staff involved in the educational
development, particularly where new technologies might be involved.

The person/s

It is likely that the appropriate person/s will:

- Hold tertiary qualifications in at least one of these areas: adult
education, instructional design, educational technology, learning
development, and probably appropriate postgraduate qualifications

- Be experienced in one or more of: instructional design,  development and
production of flexible learning materials at university level, development
of web-supported learning strategies, development of computer-assisted
learning resources

- Be experienced in hands-on project management of learning resources

- Demonstrate commitment to learner-centred approaches and high quality
learning outcomes

- Have a history of working as part of a team, and preferably experience in
leading a team

In addition, experience in working in a health education context would be
highly desireable.  For some project work, experience in an Indigenous
tertiary education setting would be desireable.

The University of Sydney has selected Web-CT as its web-supported education
platform.

Note to listmembers overseas: As this is short term work we are only able
to consider persons who have Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
