 Dear List Members

Will Riffkin draws our attention to the website Skill City featured in the
Sept 2002 edition of Herdsa News. The URL is

www2.iaaf.uwa.edu.au/skillcity/

SkillCity has over 50 entries of activity and assignment plans,
research articles, and other materials.

All relate to enhancing the communication skills of university
students
-- presenting, teamwork, etc.

Sixty-percent of the materials have been peer reviewed, with reviews
visible on SkillCity.

Downloading, submitting, providing reviews, posting needs, and
publicising events are all welcome.

        Questions to willrifkin at unsw.edu.au.

DIRECTOR OF THE LEARNING AND TEACHING DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (UCLU)

Lund University is one of Scandinavia's largest institutes for higher
education and research. About 32,000 students are enrolled at the
University, which has 6,000 employees in 90 departments in Lund, Malmö,
Helsingborg, and at other locations in the region of Skåne. Cooperation with
several hundred other universities and research institutes throughout the
world affords Lund University an international profile.

The University is inviting applications for the following position:
DIRECTOR OF THE LEARNING AND TEACHING DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (UCLU)

Ref no: 765

The main task of the Centre is to offer support in the pedagogical
development of teaching at Lund University. This is to be achieved by
training, developmental projects and consultancy measures.

The Centre was established on March 1, 2002 through the amalgamation of two
of the University's units: the Centre for Information Technology in
Education (CITU) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (UPC). The new
centre, UCLU, is developing rapidly in order to meet the challenges posed by
new demands on pedagogical education for university teachers and the use of
the Internet in university studies. The Centre presently has 32 employees
(part-time and full-time) and has a turnover of SEK 17 million per year (?
~1.9 million).

For a more detailed description of UCLU, please see our homepage:
www.uclu.lu.se/om .
UCLU is also a participant in a newly formed network for research,
development and training in learning processes (Lärande Lund).

The suitable applicant for the above position should have experience of
pedagogic development at university level. Experience of IT is also an
advantage. It is important that the applicant is competent in the areas of
leadership and management. We also attach great importance to enthusiasm in
developing the activities of the Centre together with its board and
personnel, as well as the ability to formulate visions.
The position at Lund University is a permanent one, but the appointment as
Director of the Centre is limited to 6 years.

The University applies individual salary setting. Please state your expected
salary in your application. Many of the higher positions at Lund University
are currently held by men, and we therefore wish to encourage women to apply
for this position.

Starting date: to be agreed.
