* Unwanted Messages--warning.
I have started to get a message every day from herdsa at mailman.anu.edu.au
with nothing in the message except :)) There is an attachment which I have
not opened. I have asked the staff at the ANU Computer Centre to
investigate. I just hope that others on the list are not being bothered by
this intrusion.

*This week we have the advance call for contributions for the 2005 Herdsa
conference in Sydney, yeas its that time again!


* The AVCC is concerned about recent announcements by Dr. Brenden Nelson
about the Australian government plans for Universities. See Professor Di
Yerbury's comments in press release #52 on www.avcc.edu.au

2005 Conference.

HIGHER EDUCATION IN A CHANGING WORLD

3-6 July 2005
The University of Sydney, Australia

We invite you to submit proposals for the HERDSA 2005 Conference at

Proposals are invited as either full papers or abstracts, which address the
conference topic and sub-themes:

Higher Education in a Changing World
(1) Changing higher education communities: learners and teachers
(2) New teaching for new students in a new context: pushing the boundaries
(3) Higher Education and the public: participating in changing agendas.

Contributions are welcomed in a variety of formats including traditional
research and theory papers, showcases of innovative practice and less formal
contributions to our 'ideas marketplace'.
