Dear List Members

The conference organisers have posted the following updates re the
conference. They promise a weekly update during April so keep watching this
space!

2005 Conference News..... ONLY 13 WEEKS TO GO!

1. Authors of proposals should have received notification of the outcomes
of the double blind refereeing process by email earlier this week. (ahead
of schedule thanks to our great reviewers!) If you have any queries please
contact the conference secretariat at herdsa2005 at herdsa.org.au - There
are going to be some great presentations!

2. A reminder that Early Bird registrations (which save you considerable
money!) close in four weeks on 30th April. You can register on the
conference website.

3. To help keep costs down and to encourage participation by graduate
students in particular, we are hoping to offer a limited amount of
homestay’ accommodation to conference delegates. If you live in Sydney
and would be able to offer free accommodation to a conference delegate
please register your details on the conference website at
http://www.itl.usyd.edu.au/herdsa2005/homestay.cfm

4. The deadline for applications for the Edith Cowan Authentic Learning
Prize, the New Researcher Prize and the HERDSA travel grants & NZ
Postgraduate awards is 30th April. Please consider applying for one of
these awards yourself or please encourage your colleagues or PhD students
who are attending the conference to apply.

5. There are already some special interest groups who have scheduled
meetings during the conference on Monday evening (the Learning and
Academic Skills group, the HERDSA Fellows and the Challenging Academic
Development – otherwise known as the CAD collective’!). If you would
like to schedule a discipline based teaching group meeting or other
special interest group meeting please contact Simon Barrie at
S.Barrie at itl.usyd.edu.au
