Reviewers for HERDSA 2009 conference
We are looking for reviewers for both abstracts and papers for the HERDSA
2009 conference which Charles Darwin University will host in July 2009.
Flights into Darwin in July are expensive and people will need to book their
flights as early as possible. We understand that many people need to know
that they have had a paper/abstract accepted before they can book their
flight. Therefore we are providing two opportunities for papers and
abstracts to be submitted: November 20, 2008 and Feb 20, 2009.
Papers and abstracts will be sent out at the beginning of December and March
and will be due back by the 16th of those months. Reviewers will be asked to
review 2 papers OR 10 abstracts.
I would be most grateful if you would be willing to be a reviewer. All
reviews will be conducted via (an updated) MyReview. If you are able to
assist, please contact Janet Sincock (janet.sincock at cdu.edu.au) so that your
details can be added to our list.
I would be most grateful for your help. Thanks.

HOW TO. encourage students to come to lectures
Do you have ideas for getting students to come to lectures? How to. is a
series that looks at the contemporary challenges in academic practice that
face university teachers and we would like your suggestions on what to do to
encourage students to come to class. Post your comments on the HERDSA News
web site at http://herdsanews.wordpress.com/ A summary of what we can do to
address this modern challenge will be published in the next issue of HERDSA
News. You can even suggest your own modern dilemma of academic practice by
emailing Peter.Kandlbinder at uts.edu.au and outlining an incident or situation
for which you would like some answers.
