In brief, though our African Center for Justice (ACJ ) program we are planning a regional workshop that will take place from 26-27 May 2015 in Kinshasa, DRC to develop the capacity of justice sector participants to have a practical understanding of comparative law and legal mechanisms for promoting environmental protections as part of economic development in a manner that ensures the realization of social and economic rights.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">We are actively looking to recruit an French speaking, legal expert on Environmental Law to serve as the primary trainer/facilitator for this regional workshop. We would very much appreciate if ABA ROLI could tap into your professional network to identify potential candidates for this short-term assignment. Please may I ask you to circulate the attached terms of reference (in French)?<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">The workshop will combined instructive presentations by an international legal expert together with group discussions and the peer-to-peer exchanges of professional experiences. For a portion of the workshop, participants could be formed into small working groups within which they will identify and discussed the applicable laws and practices in place within their respective countries. Subsequently, in a plenary discussion each group would be asked to present not only an overview of the legal mechanisms with each country, but also their analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of these mechanisms. In the end, our goal for the regional workshop would be that the practical legal experiences exchanged, the case studies discussed, and the critical analysis of the benefits, challenges and lessons learned will provide a means for assessing the shortcomings and advantages of various law and legal mechanisms across the region. Ideally all participants would depart from the regional workshop with a shared agreement to take action within their spheres of influence to promote the role that judicial systems can play a role in promoting environmental law within both economic and social development.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">I’m positive that our recruitment for a trainer/facilitator would benefit greatly from your assistance; the deadline for all applications is April 17, 2015.<u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">Please let me know if you have any questions.
