NISC

I note a *glaring* absence on NISC, that of a person from the library
sector. It seems quite odd if NISC is to, in PK's words: "harness the
enormous potential of the information age." that there is no one from a
sector which has a strong claim to contemporary expertise in information
management, delivery and storage among other things. I would have thought
that someone like the NLA's Eric Wainwright would have been an excellent
choice.

As in any representative football team selection one needs a balance. There
appear to be a lot of 'talls' in the team, a lot of key position players
(excuse the footy metaphor). One can only assume that the selectors assumed
that the ball would spend most of its time in the air.

Further, I suspect that there is no intersection between membership of NISC
and this list. Membership of this list may have been in fact an
'antiselection' criterion (or is this a list for 'smalls' in policy
terms?). Obviously, it would not do to have input to policy via the means
of a policy list such as this! The last thing that one would want to do is
use a contemporary information service as a means of debating policy about
information services.
