Thanks John, well... now I know. BetaMax and BetaCAM are different.It's a silly argument anyway ;-)

Just to put this myth to rest - no you can't. Professionals (and most
educational institutions) use BetaCAM which is not the same as BetaMAX.
Similar physical cassette - totally different tape formulation and
recording method.  Add this to your "things I never really wanted to know"
archive!
