What Roger Clarke has said in response to the announcement of this new list ("I
thought that link was already about the generalities, and even the
specifics, of what inet-issues is aiming at  ...  ") is my understanding also. 
The beauty of link is that it is flexible and is ready and able to take on any
particular issue that becomes topical with relation to the Net in the broadest
sense.  Indeed some of the recent discussions on link seem to me to have been
relevant to the specific goals of inet-issues.  

Establishing two lists with apparently similar goals could lead to a situation
that neither list would want - a splitting of the resource base, the expertise held
by various members of the Australian net community.  This would not be in the
interests of collaborative and comprehensive exploration of issues.
