>From today's Canberra Times (27 Jun 96):
A former contractor with the Department of Foreign Affairs appeared in the
ACT Magistrates Court yesterday facing charges relating to possession of
Mark Jeffery Lambert, 36, of Melba, entered no plea and was bailed to
reappear on August 7. It was alleged that on May 27 he had a photograph
depicting a young person engaged in an act of a sexual nature which would
offend a reasonable adult person.
He was further charged that between December 1 1995 and May 27 1996, he
used Telstra in such a way as would have been regarded as offensive.
Lambert was also charged with being in possession of Hewlett Packard
computer equipment which belonged to the Commonwealth.
Prosecutor Ian Glasgow did not oppose bail but requested reporting
conditions on the grounds that Lambert worked in Sydney and returned to
Canberra only at weekends. Defence counsel John Buxton opposed this
request saying that his client had a wife and four children in the ACT.
Magistrate Michael Somes did not impose any reporting conditions.
