Liftoff: T-4!
Dateline: Sydney, 23 November 1996

The Internet Society of Australia is proud to announce that incorporation is
complete; the Society formally came into being on 15 November 1996.

Preparations for the Inaugural General Meeting, only four days away now, are
proceeding apace. Everything is looking good, with well over twenty
candidates already nominated and seconded for only eight Director positions.
The nominees are a fascinating group, coming from a wide cross-section of
the Internet-using community. As befits an organisation like the Internet
Society, the nominees come from all over the country too.

Members and prospective members are warmly invited to attend the Inaugural
General Meeting, to be held on 27 November 1996 at 1:30pm in room C131 of
the UTS Haymarket Campus on Quay Street in Sydney (five minutes walk from
Darling Harbour). Facilities will also be provided to allow remote users to
take part in the meeting via the Internet.

So come along - meet the people, have your say, and be a part of the
creation of a piece of Internet history.
