Anybody know if the one stop shop is happening? if so, what is
happening? when? is Health & Family Services involved ot just DEETYA and
DSS? All that I can find since the budget is as follows:
At the National Press Club at the end of August, Any Macdonald said "...
I was really delighted in the Budget to see the announcement of this new
DEETYA, DSS and Health and Family Services storefront shop." (source
http://www.acs.org.au/president/1996/atm/npc/)
John Sharp, Minister for Transport and Regional Development mentioned it
at Budget time as "an integrated shopfront for services provided by the
Departments of Social Security and Employment, Education, Training and
Youth Affairs" (source
http://www.finance.gov.au/budget96/MINSTAT/REGIONAL.HTM)
There was also an education portfolio statement along the lines of a new
commitment to quality service to customers where "The Commonwealth
Government has decided to create a new service delivery agency. ... to
offer a "one-stop-shop" for a range of services which are currently
delivered by different departments ... the agency will provide all the
payments and services now provided by ... [DSS] together with some of
the employment and student services of ... [DEETYA]. ... such as a
simple one stop registration and claim process for unemployed people."
