The 1996 Asia Pacific Distributed Solutions Event

6-9 October 1996

Hyatt Sanctuary Cove Resort
Hope Island, Gold Coast
Queensland, Australia

The success of last year's Asia Pacific Distributed Solutions Event
confirmed the demand for a distributed computing technologies conference
in the Asia Pacific region. This year's event will be held from 6 to 9
October at the Hyatt Sanctuary Cove Resort on Hope Island (between
Brisbane and the Gold Coast). The event will feature introductory seminars
on DCE (Distributed Computing Environment), CORBA (Common
Object Request Broker Architecture), WWW (WorldWide Web) and Java, user
group meetings, case studies, birds of a feather sessions,
expert panels, keynote speakers. In addition two invited organisations will
be provided with computer and business solutions to their real-life
technical challenges.

The conference program utilizes the knowledge of researchers, analysts,
end-users and IT strategists to give conference attendees a holistic
view of where computing using distributed and web-based technologies is
heading. It provides attendees with an independent analysis of the
significance of emerging products and technology trends rather than having
to rely solely on the marketing material of individual vendors and
resellers. Also, by discussing real case studies, it means that Australian
organisations can share their experiences rather than individually
having to experience the joys, frustrations and costs associated with
undertaking projects using distributed computing technology.

The programme of activities has been carefully selected to provide benefit
to attendees with both technical and business backgrounds:

Attendees with a technical background will gain insights about technology
trends and business benefits of using distributed computing
technology as well as learn the pragmatic hurdles early adopters of emerging
and current technologies are facing.

Attendees with a business background will appreciate the international
analysts views on the significance of particular industry trends,
players and products for different market segments. They will also gain an
understanding of why particular standards, or products will
potentially impact on their business in the near future and what they should
do about it!

The keynote speakers will include Bob Hayward (Program Director - Gartner
Group), Juzar Motiwalla (Head of ISS - Singapore), Robert
Neely (Research and Planning Controller - Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club),
Patricia Seybold (President and CEO of the Patricia Seybold
Group), and Anne Thomas (Senior Product Architect - Open Environment Group).

The 1996 Asia Pacific Distributed Solutions Event is targeted at key
executives in private and public organisations in the region. It's aim is to
provide insights and pragmatic knowledge about new and evolving technologies
by bringing together internationally respected industry
analysts, researchers, vendors and users of distributed systems to discuss
real solutions to real business challenges.
