INET: Why ISOC-AU should NOT be a chapter

Until such time as ISOC-US is formed and becomes a capter of ISOC, I think
ISOC-AU should be an independent Society. I don't think ISOC-AU should be
a chapter of an American Society. Its voice will be lost.

We can't expect that to happen from the current AU membership of ISOC.
We need to get involved to try and achieve that.

Also, it presupposes nothing else in ISOC is of interest to us, when
in fact I think they do a lot of bloody useful things, and I want to
support them. I also want to use that material they produce and we
can exploit in our region, and pass back in same we source so they
can leverage off it elsewhere.

In saying this I am not saying that ISOC-AU should not cooperate with ISOC,
I think it should, but as a peer, not as a subordinate.

No, with ISOC-US as a peer, with ISOC as a owner-in-common.
