CyberLaws in Malaysia

A Bulletin from the Dept of Foreign Affairs & Trade states that Malaysia is
introducing six 'cyberlaws', the first five in March/April 1997 and the
sixth later in 1997.  They are:
-   the Digital Signatures Act;
-   the Multimedia Intellectual Property Act;
-   the Computer Crimes Act;
-   the Telemedicine Development Act;
-   the Electronic Government Act;  and
-   the Multimedia Convergence Act.

They could, of course, be being precipitate;  or just bluffing.  Or
alternatively they could be doing the kinds of things that the government
of a genuinely clever country *would* do.

Meanwhile, the sole function of the Australian Minister for Communications
appears to be the maximisation of the sale value of Telstra ...
