For anyone interested in the latest developments in our local 
electricity authority's plans, see

Note that they don't plan to carry comms over the power lines, 
but will string optic fibre on existing power poles, with copper 
from the pole in the back yard to the house.

At a recent briefing, there was a clarification on their timescale, 
which will see the first rollout occurring in the first half of 1998.
