US prudery

One occassionally forgets how conservative the US is.

Notice CNN's careful avoidance of the phrase "oral sex":

  http://allpolitics.com/1998/08/06/lewinsky/

The sources also said Lewinsky indicated she participated
in a certain kind of sex act that, in the president's
mind, may have stopped short of what he considered to be
  sexual relations.

and SMH's more comprehensible report:

  http://www.smh.com.au/news/9808/08/pageone/pageone4.html

Monica Lewinsky has told a grand jury that she had oral
sex with President Clinton a dozen times, usually in the
small private study off the Oval Office...

She apparently told the 23 grand jurors, who are anonymous
Washington citizens, that the President told her he did
not believe oral sex constituted sexual relations.

If it were the Australian media "a certain kind of sex act"
would at least involve fishnet stockings, leather, and a
British politican :-)

Someone may find the above a useful example of cultural
differences in content ratings effecting the reportage of
current events.
