MP3 HITS BACK
In the wake of the music industryís failed bid to ban Diamond Multimediaís Rio
MP3 player, Diamond, GoodNoise, MP3.com, MusicMatch, and Xing Technology have
set up a group to promote MP3 technology as the standard for downloadable
music.
According to the International Federation of Phonographic Industries, about 3
million tracks (most of them pirated) are downloaded from the Net each day. The
Economist says the music industry has a lot to fear -
