BT data traffic exceeds voice

SIGN OF THE TIMES
British Telecom says that, for the first time, the volume of its data traffic
has exceeded voice traffic. BT, which today announced an 18% profit
surge to $934 million for the second quarter, is spending $3.3 billion a year
to ensure its network can handle Internet demand. It also has a $10 billion
venture with AT&T to offer voice, data, and Internet services to companies
around the world via its Concert network. See
