The latest column from Robert Cringely is about the current moves in the US
government to prohibit state taxes on sales made over the internet.

He talks about the possibility that _all_ transactions, even low dollar
retail transactions, will have an internet component deliberately introduced
in order to avoid state taxes. I can't help thinking that the same could
happen here. How will we pay GST on internet sales, for instance? And will
we go "online" in order to avoid paying it?
