Geek chic?

Stewart,

Based on my observations of the students here, the only possible form of 
dress for the chic geek is the oversized BLACK t -shirt featuring one of 
the following:

South Park character
Metallica
Aliens
or other, more obscure, and therefore cooler cult band or movie.
(I'm too old and out of date to tell the cool from the nerdy nowadays).

I've just received an invitation to attend a function which specifies dress

"geek chic".

What does this mean? Is it an invitation to get my flared pants out of the
bottom drawer, or is that just "geek" without the "chic"?
