Back a few years, the announcement of Telstra's Future Mode of Operation (FMO)
was cause for much journalistic "oohing and aaahing" (regretfully, I was a
participant). Only later did we discover that the FMO network was engineered to
concentrate customer access to Telstra and inhibit competitors' access to the
customer access network (hence the debate over DSL and PAPLs).

Now we get the DMO and another round of bug-eyed excitement. Would any of the
most technically literate Linkers like to speculate on what's hiding in the
belly of this Trojan Horse? Or am I too cynical, and I should instead be joining
in the bug-eyed excitement?
